How well do we understand time?

    I heard that, according to the standard model, you should be able to "play the universe in reverse", so to speak - that is, everything that happens in one direction in time could also be happening in the opposite direction in time.

    But, it was continued, the laws of thermodynamics are restricted to one direction in time - entropy increases forwards in time, not backwards.

    Not sure I'm phrasing myself very well here, but I guess someone here could phrase it better... the question is, though - how well do you think humanity's come in understanding time?
