Hyperfine Transition Levels

Hi Anyone,

This is my first post here and i have a bit of a quandry.

I'm doing some work related to hyperfine transition levels in Rubidium.
Ive been looking and asking but no-one can explain to me satisfactorly how hyperfine splits occur.
Mostly i get answers like " you should find out " , i can take that as meaning no-one yet knows or simply those i ask dont know.

I have the basics like electron spin and magnetic interactions etc but thats a bit wishy-washy.
I have to do a presentation on my project and i'm afraid someone who genuinely doesnt know might ask about how it occurs and i wont be able to give a satisfactory answer.

So any opinions or explainations would be mucho apreciado.
