I could use help with a design project :) Hey guys, I would love if you could help me with my design project. I have to design a one stage speed reducer. Using information from existing gears and bearings I have to find the best combination of size and price, so that the product of price (in $) and area is as small as possible. Gears: http://www.mcmaster.com/#gears/=jt9vwe Bearings: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-ball-and-roller-bearings/=jt9wcp The area is calculated as A=(Diameter Gear 1 + Diameter Gear 2) * (2*bearing thickness * gear thickness) Information that I have is engine specifications, desired gear ratio, reliabilities of bearings and gears, and other related information) I don't want you to work out this for me since it is my job.
