I don't know what field I want to go into and it's making me panic

  1. May 3, 2010 #1
I'm entering my senior year of college, and I want to go to grad school. I'm starting to panic because I don't know what I want to do. First off, money is a huge deal to me - I know I shouldn't go in thinking that, but I can't help it. I'm getting my BS in math/BA in physics at the University of Florida. I've found that what I enjoy most is computational in nature - I enjoy programming simulations. My favorite classes have been Experimental Mathematics, Computational Physics and Engineering, and Ordinary Differential Equations. I guess the two main fields I'm looking at are applied math and computational physics (AKA scientific computing with a physics concentration), but if I could make substantially more money with something like mathematical finance, I'd be willing to do that.

To give an example of how I'm torn, consider two of University of Florida's math graduate degree programs. They offer an MS with a concentration, and I'm torn between http://www.math.ufl.edu/gradprog/appl_de.html" [Broken]. They both look equally enticing.

I am not yet sure if I want to go for an MS or a PhD. I also don't even know where to begin looking for good programs (plus I have to decide if I want applied math or computational physics). I'm really freaking out, and any help you can give me is very, very much appreciated. Thank you!
