Ice/Steam Point - check answer

    QUESTION:
    Suppose the numerical value of 492 is assigned to the ice point temperature [tex]\theta[/tex]ice=492.
    a) Find the steam point temperature on this scale.

    b) Calculate the temperature interval between the steam point and the ice point on
    this scale.

    SOLUTION a :
    We know that the ratio [tex]\theta[/tex]ice/[tex]\theta[/tex]steam = 1.3661
    and that [tex]\theta[/tex]steam - [tex]\theta[/tex]ice = 100

    thus,

    [tex]\theta[/tex]steam = (1.3661)([tex]\theta[/tex]ice)
    [tex]\theta[/tex]steam = (1.3661) (492)
    [tex]\theta[/tex]steam = 671.12

    SOLUTION b:
    If [tex]\theta[/tex]ice=492 and
    [tex]\theta[/tex]steam=672.12
    then
    [tex]\theta[/tex]steam -[tex]\theta[/tex]ice =180.12

    Is this really correct?
