In summary: So if you're looking for something specific, you'll have to use a different tool. Thanks for the input! In summary, a person on this forum said they are a famous person, and we are unable to accurately trace their location because of inaccurate tracer programs. They ask for someone to trace their location for them, and if they are using a proxy, they could be anywhere. There are several traceroute tools available for free online, but the one that would be best for this task is VisualRoute 2005.

There is a person on this forum saying they are a famous person and we are unable to accurately check because of inaccurate tracer programs, so if anyone could trace that for me it would be appreciated.

You can trace the location of their ISP using traceroutes, not their home location.

How would one find their home location?

I've read first hand accounts of people being able to trace somebody's home address and phone number through IP addresses. You'll have to check out forums specifically for that kind of thing you're looking for.

thanks guys, u've been so helpful
i've downloaded the "visualroute 2005"
let's say
i want to trace a hotmail address
i typed it in the right place
and then
they gave me 4 serves:

mx1.hotmail.com(reston)
mx2.hotmail.com(ashburn)
mx3.hotmail.com(redmond)
mx4.hotmail.com(chicago)

well I am just a beginner in those stuff.
i have some questions:
are these cities where the main server for msn exists?

and when i get the results they give me several ip's
on the 4 servers (mx1.mx2...) which one is for the address i typed?

i guess that's all until now.
basic questions.
lol

Your going on a wild goose chase. Large websites and service providers don't just use one server for their traffic. They cache the page at various locations, so if one server goes down, then you still have backup systems. One of the companies that does caching is Akamai. It was not to long ago Microsoft's website was being cached by Akamai's Linux servers.

im famous to, :). None of the websites that track ip can tell you exactly were people are, most are off a city or two, or not close at all if they use proxys as dduardo said.

I have been experimenting with this stuff a lot...The best one I have found is:

www.geobytes.com

Itz telling me that this address is in Brooklyn NY, US. But you need to be aware that anyone can use a software to fake their IP addresss.

1. How do I find the location of a computer using its IP address?

The location of a computer can be found by using a tool or service that maps IP addresses to physical locations. One popular tool is the IP2Location database, which provides accurate geolocation information for IP addresses.

2. Can I trace the exact address of a computer using its IP address?

No, it is not possible to trace the exact address of a computer using its IP address. IP addresses are assigned to a network, not a specific physical location. However, using a geolocation tool can provide an approximation of the computer's location.

3. Why is the location of a computer using its IP address important?

The location of a computer can be important for various reasons, such as determining the origin of a cyber attack or tracking down a lost or stolen device. It can also be useful for targeted advertising or website localization purposes.

4. Is it possible to change the location of a computer using its IP address?

No, the location of a computer cannot be changed by simply changing its IP address. IP addresses are assigned by internet service providers and are based on the physical location of the network. However, it is possible to use a virtual private network (VPN) to mask the device's true location.

5. Can I locate a computer using its IP address if it is behind a proxy or VPN?

It is more difficult to locate a computer behind a proxy or VPN, as these services mask the device's true IP address. However, some geolocation tools have the capability to detect and account for proxies and VPNs in their location mapping.
