What can you capture with an IR camera using heat transfer principles?

In summary, someone needs help brainstorming ideas for a college seminar photo project. The seminar is a week away and the group is already done with the writing part, but they need help coming up with ideas for what to shoot with the IR camera. heat transfer principles are important, but simplicity is also important.

Hello, i have a college seminar due 1 week from today and our group has already done the writing part of it, but now we need to take a few pictures with the IR camera itself and we are clueless what to actually shoot because the idea must be innovative and simple and must be backed up by heat transfer principals. If anyone could help with the brainstorming of ideas i would be very thankful.

and keep in mind that it doesn't have to be something complicated, simple and innovative will do the job.

Just look around whatever space you plan to use the camera in and find something. This really shouldn't be so difficult as to merit asking for help; everything with a difference in temperature transfers heat.

Place your palm on the table for 30 seconds and then remove it, for example.

Great example. Another would be to IR image the ground after someone has walked over it. You can see where they stepped.
Very short time duration in many cases, though.

thanks guys these are the type of ideas I am looking for! even though we have already thought of the hand and desk one i appreciate your help. as for pallidins suggestion, it looks like a great idea could also compare foot steps with bare feet, socks on and shoes on, ill be sure to add it to the already brainstormed ideas.

You could compare the thermal images of an outer wall vs. an inner wall, or just look at a wall to see what you can see. Good thermal imagers will tell you where the studs are, and some will even show you where the nails in the stud are located.
