I am an electrical and electronics student.

I do plan to follow minor in Solid State Physics.
What do you think?

Very much so.

I'm a solid-state physicist, and I wish I has taken more electronics engineering courses. There are a lot of interesting endeavors that fall in between, and the people more well equipped to work in this area will be in demand. I also wish I had a bit of a better foundation in RF/microwave circuitry.
