Is it bad

    Is it bad to ask for some thing then not use it when you have it ?

    It is bad because you are preventing the others who actually need it even if you buy it with your own money.

    Well if some one, or even a group of people asks a favour, and the favour is
    granted but not used.

    May be you thought it would be cool to have it at the time, but later spent

    We seek insurance. We hope in most cases we don't have to use it.

    We seek (some of us) guns for protection. I'd prefer NOT to shoot an intruder in my home.

    Perhaps because your ulterior motive is to prevent its current owner from using it.
