Light affects matter, like sun rays evaporating water, therefore is physical.
It shows that energy can interact with matter, and it shows that matter can store energy. But it does not show that energy is matter.

Einstein's famous equation, E=mc2, shows that (light) energy cannot exist without (matter) mass
It shows nothing of the sort. That's a rather fanciful interpretation.

Isn't an atomic bomb a pretty good indication that matter is made of light?

No it's not. Light has no charge. So where did an electron get its charge?

We have had this type of thread before. Don't just account for energy conservation. There's a whole slew of conservation laws here that are being ignored.

For heaven's sake people... I've yet to see a single definition of energy or matter in this whole thread! I suspect people are having an issue of differing definitions, more than anything else. Moderators: terminate please.

I agree. Please review the PF Guidelines as well, especially those of you (and you know who you are) who are making rather erroneous and speculative application of that Einstein equation. Please read the FAQ already!
