I realized that Mathematica is extremely expensive, and I want to ask users whether it is worth the money (considering that there are other CAS such as Maxima)?

This seems odd to me. From my programming experiences, I can't imagine ever deciding to write something in Mathematica if I have a reasonable choice to write it in C++ or python or some other language I consider "normal" for programming tasks. I would only write a program in Mathematica if I was going to:dalcde said:it makes a good programming language

Mathematica is a software program that is used for mathematical and scientific computations, data analysis, and visualization. It is useful for researchers, engineers, and students in various fields such as physics, engineering, economics, and more.
The pros of using Mathematica include its ability to handle complex mathematical calculations and data analysis, its user-friendly interface, its vast library of pre-built functions and algorithms, and its integration with other software programs such as Excel and MATLAB.
Some of the cons of using Mathematica include its high cost, which can be a barrier for individual users or small organizations, its steep learning curve, and its limited compatibility with other programming languages.
This ultimately depends on the individual's needs and budget. If you regularly work with complex mathematical calculations and data analysis, Mathematica may be worth the cost. However, if you only need it for occasional use or for simpler tasks, there may be more affordable alternatives available.
Yes, there is a free trial version of Mathematica available for download on their website. This allows users to test out the software and decide if it is worth the cost for their specific needs.
