Katrina and softwood lumber

    How has (and will) Katrina affect the softwood lumber industry between the US and Canada? One would imagine the US is looking to purchase more lumber after New Orleans, but for some reason there doesn't seem to be too much demand.

    I wouldn't expect contractors to start purchasing more wood in anticipation of this so soon....when the contracts are all done and money has changed hands the demand for lumber will go up... :wink:

    I would guess it's going to be several months before rebuilding actually starts, so the impact for contractors and vendors (and engineers) won't be seen until around Christmas.
