Homework Help: Kinematics ball kick question

  1. Jul 9, 2008 #1
A young soccer player stands 25 m in front of the goal. He kicks the ball at a speed of 20 m/s. The goal is 2.44 m high. What is the height of the ball when it reaches the goal?

    1. 0 m (the ball is on the ground)
    2. 1.15 m (the ball goes into the goal)
    3. 6.26 m (the ball sails over the goal)
    4. -1.78 m (the ball will hit the gorund before reaching the goal)
    5. not enough info

I am really confused by this question. Is the 20 m/s the horizontal velocity or vertical at an angle? So I'm thinking that there's not enough info to solve this question.

yes.......there is less info in the question
height would be different for different angles
