King of Siam : History

  1. Mar 10, 2004 #1
Don't remember the date, when 'the Europeans' began exploring the Earth and 'discovered' other cultures and began trading and exchanging 'ideas', the King of Siam recognized the intelligence of these explorers and was open to the new ideas and knowledge, and products they brought.
But when they told him about ice- solid-water and cold-he didn't believe it, and wouldn't believe them 'no mo'.
I'm remembering this from John Locke-what's reasonabe, and what's not.....how indeed can one imagine 'ice' and what it can do ....or something else just as strange and slippery and elusive.

Did this actually happen-seems reasonable....no way of really knowing what details are imagined-simply 'made up'-who was translating?

Can history be re-written--who records it and who 'writes' it-
and who teaches what to whom and why -
the 'winners' tell the story-so the story goes.

I came across a character who says virtually 'all of History' has been a complete fabrication--
for example, Jesus was born in 1053 and crucified in 1086 AD.

Of course it ain't true! Is this some 'wild satire', an absurdist having fun in the 'market-place of ideas'?.....Well, he's been working on this for more than 30 years, publishing papers and so on.

Not that this 'lends' crediblity to the 'idea' in any 'serious' way of course-

Henry Ford once said: "History is more or less bunk!"
Prominent matematician Anatoly Fomenko proves it.

    ====About the Author:

Anatoly T. Fomenko was born in 1945. He is a full member (Academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the_ International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, as well as a doctor of physics and mathematics, a professor, and head of the Moscow State University Department of Mathematics and Mechanics. He solved the classical Plateau’s Problem from the theory of minimal spectral surfaces. Fomenko is the author of the theory of invariants and topological classification of integrable Hamiltonian dynamic systems. he is also the author of 180 scientific publications, 26 monographs and textbooks on mathematics, a specialist in geometry and topology, variational calculus, symplectic topology, Hamiltonian geometry and mechanics, computer geometry.

Mr. Fomenko is also the author of a number of books on the development of new empirico-statistical methods and their application to the analysis of historical chronicles as well as the chronology of antiquity and the Middle Ages.

    Like 'experts' know!

"History: Fiction or Science?" by Anatoly Fomenko, leading mathematician of our time. He follows in steps of Sir Isaac Newton and finds clear evidence of falsification of History. Armed with logic, astronomy and computers he proves the history of humankind to be both dramatically different and drastically shorter than generally presumed.
Archaeological, dendrochronological, paleographical and carbon methods of dating of ancient sources and artifacts are both non-exact and contradictory, therefore there is not a single piece of firm written evidence or artifact that could be reliably and independently dated earlier than the XI century.,,,,We also learn that the consensual model of history had prominent critics ever since its creation - among those such names as Sir Isaac Newton and Jean Hardouin, the court librarian of Louis XIV......

Even the authority of school textbooks does not stop the author from infecting millions of innocent souls with doubt. ((from the publisher))
    on and on...

This could be a very 'emoctional' subject-indeed, that is the 'purpose' of 'popular history'--to use it to 'rally behind the troops' --there is no doubt 'history' is used as propaganda-the 'masses' simply' do not have the time to 'check the facts'--education is simply repeating what you've been told--do it well and you get an A....

In America there was two conflicting 'histories' taught-most people never realized it. Now there is virtually one history being taught--in regard to the "War Between the States". The 'northern ' version is now being taught everywhere--it is called the "Civil War" (not the "War of Secession"-which was fought by armies of independent States).... A 'civil war' is an armed revolt of citizens against the government/against each other--but more important is the 'reason' for the war---it was fought by the North to 'free the slaves and end slavery'.

it happened of course-but that was not 'the reason'-it was however a major 'cause'--'it' was responsibe for many problems between the 'economies' of the 'States' who were aligned together in these 'political' deals....and so on....but in truth many,if not a majority, within the South were 'against' slavery(in Virginia,a few years before the war, a 'measure' to 'end slavery' prevailed by a single vote-and this would be a vote among those who were 'in power' -the 'common people' were against it)- (is that strange?-not at all,yet those who owned the slaves wielded the power....and so on...

With the 'new world order' after WWII there was a great need to fight 'communism',so we see the 'new history' of the US changing -through TV etc...

Some are gaining notice in their re-writing WWII--there was no 'holocaust' for example.

What if all the children of Israel and Palestine were taught a completely different 'history' from the one they know?

What is 'truth' and what is fact? Are UFOs 'delusions', natural phenomena, ET 'aircraft', or 'human designed'and built 'aircraft'-- or a generous mix of all at the same time? or 'snowballs of sodium'? (have no idea if that makes any sense at all--which is the point!)

A history mystery mess indeed- a mix of facts and imagination and propaganda and maybe a little
'reason' here and there--but 'reason' can't prove 'ice' exists to one in the tropics-"seeing is believing", and demonstration is necessary....

Perhaps if enough 'believe in' something already then a 'false demonstration' could 'prove it beyond a doubt'.

    What am i suggesting?
a script for an old "Outer Limits" that could easily become reality.
    Ronald Reagan scares me still.

(just another 'view' from the moon....
