Why does increasing the kVp in x-ray production increase the number of x-ray photons if the number of electrons produced by the cathode is unchanged? thanks

thanksi think the increase in tube voltage accelerates the electrons to higher energy and radiation from accelerated/decelerated charge "Bremsstrahlung" increases thus increasing the x-ray intensity/number of photons-these radiations are of continuous nature and fall in the range of continuous x-rays. however the characteristic x-rays which are characteristic of the target -also increases in intensity as number of transitions increases - hardly one percent of the energy input gets out as x-rays.
