Left to right inversion

  1. Jan 8, 2009 #1

I bought a Meade NGC-70TC refractor telescope and the image is inverted left-to-right. Is that normal? A google search didn't yield any answers.

    Hi DocZaius!

An astronomical refracting telescope always inverts …

either left-to-right or up-and-down, depending on which way your head is screwed on.

(a terrestrial refracting telescope has an concave eyepiece instead of a convex one, or some other arrangement, to keep the image the right way up)
