Life's great mysteries (things that make NO sense)
Why would you hope for something different?! If some morning flight somewhere or another is canceled (or extensively delayed) it doesn't necessarily mean that all flights originally planned for that particular aircraft are also canceled for certain and forever after for all eternity. Airlines are flexible enough to get passengers to their destination (much of the time) by putting them on a different aircraft, often keeping the same flight number. That's a good thing for travelers. Be careful what you hope for. If the airline has the resource of a different airplane they'll use it. If it's the same model of the originally planned aircraft, the switch can be pretty seamless, perhaps not even noticeable. Less desirable but still possible is a different airplane model (e.g., Boeing 737 vs. Airbus A320); although it can mean seat assignments are all screwed up. It's only the worst case where resources are not available such that all connecting flights are also cancelled. The point is that if you rely solely on the Arrivals list and notice that there is a problem with the originally planned aircraft for your flight, then throw your hands up in the air shouting, "I'm screwed for certain!" and then proceed to take a taxi cab hundreds of miles to your destination, you might be shooting yourself in the foot. It's quite possible that your flight isn't actually canceled and that the airline will simple use an alternate aircraft. This is especially true to bigger/busier airports, such as a hub of the airline you are using.
