Mac iOS and the root password

  1. Nov 4, 2012 #1
I forgot my root password for the Mac OS in which I installed xCode as a separate mountable drive. The only way I can think up right now is to reinstall everything (that is to reset the master password) But I don't want to re-download xCode as it takes a long time to do that.
I am new to MacOS, any help please.

There is a way to remove the root password for any mac without any passwords at all, it is the only way to reset passwords in general but majority of people do this on computers that have been stolen so i can not share information on how to do so here.
