Magnetic field rather than electric

  1. Sep 17, 2005 #1
    Magnetic field rather than electric....

    Ok here's my question.

Why are magnetic fields used to deflect an electron beam rather than electric fields in television screens?

I'd appreciate a substantial prod in the right direction.
Feel free to give the answer though.

Maybe, but that's what the question asks......

This is just a guess but is it to do with the voltage being harder to reverse in an electric field than the current is in a magnetic field?

Maybe I should've posted this somewhere else.....
