Hello all,

I'm interested in the field of biotechnology and I'm considering pursuing a biotech degree. I've generally been adept at the sciences (barring physics), but I've been dragged down by maths my entire life. Would I require much proficiency in mathematics to succeed in such a career? I'm not in any position where I can 'try it out' then switch to something else if it isn't for me, so if I do decide to go with it I'll pretty much be stuck with the choice. Any help or advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

Mathematics is an important part of the biotechnology field, so it is important to have a good foundation in math in order to succeed. Depending on what type of degree you are pursuing, you may need to take courses in statistics and calculus, which would require some proficiency in mathematics. You may also need to take courses in chemistry, biology, and other sciences which may also involve math. While it may be difficult to get through the more complex courses if you don’t have a strong background in math, there are resources available to help you succeed. It is important to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses in order to decide if biotechnology is the right field for you. Good luck!
