I just installed MATLAB but I get this screen when i try to run it: http://www.themodule.net/matlaberror.gif

Does anyone have an idea of how this can be fixed.

I think that, somehow the java runtime environment in your machine has bungled up.

OK for starters, you can try installing the latest JRE from sun. If you already have the latest JRE, then i guess some hacking has to be done to the registry. Now i cannot recall which registry key it was, but if i am not wrong there is a registry key for MATLAB that stores the path for the java compiler that it wants to use. By setting it to the path of the latest JRE, i guess the problem should be solved. (It is highly possible that MATLAB uses the default path for java used by windows, so one can check out that key in the registry as well).

I did not see anything in the registry for that; however, i noticed that MATLAB installed it's own java files (within the MATLAB directory). Here is what the error log looks like:
