Panchromatic is a b/w film that is red-sensitive. Older, orthochromatic films, are also b/w, but red-insensitive.

The definition I get from google is that panchromatic is: (of photographic film) sensitive to all visible colors of the spectrum. Not sure what it means when it comes to remote sensing technology. I'll try to look up more information when I have the time.
