Meaning of prime re: event

  1. Aug 4, 2008 #1
I have run into a use of the symbol usually called prime (y' for example) in the description of an event.

    P(A or B')

    Please, what does it mean?

I think some old texts use it as complement.

Thanks, that makes sense with the rest of the problem.
