Mechanical engineering books

    Hi people does anyone here know of any good mechanical engineering books. I want to get one but i don't really know whats good or not , i don't really want to waste the money on getting something that isn't very good, the prices aren't cheap for some of those books.

    Mechanical engineering is a HUGE topic. There are thousands and thousands of books written about all the different areas of mechanical engineering. Even saying "mechanical design" is incredibly vague. You can't give us any more of an idea of what you are looking for?

    um engine design, steam engines, pneumatics, hydraulics stuff like that

    I would start with Den Hartog's books.
