Molar Mass Calc: My Solution | PDF File

In summary, there were discussions about the number of moles and mole fraction of oxygen and nitrogen in a 1 kg of air, with calculations of 14.50054377039141 moles of oxygen and 54.830902353873405 moles of nitrogen. The correct molar mass for oxygen and nitrogen molecules were also mentioned to be 16 and 14, respectively. However, the molar mass of O2 was not provided.

Homework Statement
Assuming that 1 kg of dry air consists of 232 g of oxygen and 768 g of nitrogen (ignore the admixture of other gases), calculate the molar mass of the air.
Relevant Equations
M = NA(avogadro number) x mo (molecular mass)
pdf file is my solooution l think its wrong

In the 1 kg of air, how many moles of oxygen are there? How many moles of nitrogen are there? What is the mole fraction of oxygen? Of nitrogen?

Wrong. How many atoms are there in molecular oxygen? In molecular nitrogen? What is the molar mass of an oxygen molecule? Of a nitrogen molecule?

Wrong. Molar mass of O2 is?

1. What is molar mass and why is it important?

Molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance, expressed in grams per mole. It is important because it is used to convert between the mass of a substance and the number of moles of that substance. This is crucial in chemical reactions and determining the amount of a substance needed for a reaction.

2. How is molar mass calculated?

Molar mass is calculated by adding up the atomic masses of all the atoms present in a molecule. The atomic masses can be found on the periodic table. The resulting value is expressed in grams per mole.

3. What is the difference between molecular mass and molar mass?

Molecular mass is the mass of a single molecule of a substance, while molar mass is the mass of one mole of that substance. Molecular mass is expressed in atomic mass units (amu), while molar mass is expressed in grams per mole.

4. How can I use the Molar Mass Calc to calculate the molar mass of a compound?

To use the Molar Mass Calc, simply enter the chemical formula of the compound into the designated field. The calculator will then use the atomic masses of the elements to calculate the molar mass of the compound.

5. Can the Molar Mass Calc be used for any type of compound?

Yes, the Molar Mass Calc can be used for any type of compound as long as the chemical formula is entered correctly. This includes both organic and inorganic compounds.
