Homework Help: Molarity Calculation

  1. Sep 4, 2011 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
You need to prepare medium for your culture cells. Your liquid salt solution is 10X concentration, you need to dilute to 1X for use. You need to add 100% fetal bovine serum for a final concentration of 10%. How would you make up 1 liter of this culture media using water as your solvent?

    2. Relevant equations
    possibly c1v1=c2v2

    3. The attempt at a solution
    Liquid Salt

    Fetal Bovine Serum
    (1)(v1)= (.1)(1L)

    1 Liter - 0.1L - 0.1L = 0.8L of Water

Add 0.1L of the 10X liquid salt to 0.1L of the 100% serum, dilute with water to 1 L.
