Agreed! I believe it is the policy at the Grand Canyon, that if a person is airlifted out or rescued, they foot the bill which is several thousand dollars. If a person puts themselves at risk and requires rescue, especially if due to one's own negligence, then one can pay for it.I agree 100% with Janus. Refusing to take an MLU is STUPID. Mountain climbers take along gear, an MLU is a tiny device, if you're too stupid to take one, you don't deserve to be rescued. The only thing it will prevent the climber from experiencing is a slow death.
