Music on door bell not working

  1. Sep 26, 2010 #1
I just purchased a condo built in 1992. The door bell is fine in that I get the ding-dong sound.
However, attached to the door bell is a small box with DIP switch selectable music. This box has wires labeled FRONT, REAR, and TRANS.
The wires were attached to the to the corresponding wire on the bell. I tried various wiring and DIP switch settings but I only get the ding-dong.
Here's pics of the bell and small box. Any idea how this is supposed work?

We had one of those, but it was battery powered. Have you checked the battery? ;)

Also, your pictures either were removed or didn't work. Try using the "attach" button, that should work, I think.

    Thanks for the replies.

    There are no batteries involved.

Unfortunately I can't find the transformer. It's not in the circuit breaker box so it's probably buried in the ceiling which I don't have access to.
