My blog page got ugly!

  1. Jul 31, 2007 #1
Heya! I recently started a blog on this site here:

    https://www.physicsforums.com/blogs/captain-cruelty-83571/

and that's all good. However, I made a minor edit last night, and now the page is... ugly. I get all sorts of coding errors on it, repeatable in any browser (Konqueror, Firefox, etc.), specifically java errors:

Error: https://www.physicsforums.com/blogs/captain-cruelty-83571/clientscript/vbulletin_global.js?v=367: SyntaxError: Parse error at line 2
Error: https://www.physicsforums.com/blogs/captain-cruelty-83571/clientscript/vbulletin_menu.js?v=367: SyntaxError: Parse error at line 2
    Error: https://www.physicsforums.com/blogs/captain-cruelty-83571/: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: vbmenu_register

Cookies / Cache / History all cleared, windowing environment has been restarted too. No effect. So the short question is, I guess, how do I fix this? Slightly longer question I guess would be what went wrong?

    Many thanks in advance!

I don't see those on my computer, but it's definitely looking all sorts of messed up. Did you use any code in your blog? Perhaps something messed up the page formatting? I clicked on some other blogs just to make sure it wasn't a general problem with our forum software, and I don't see anything similar occurring.

Perhaps whatever your "minor edit" was last night is causing the problem. You might want to contact Chroot or Greg Bernhardt by private message so they can try to fix it for you. I can't even find the moderation buttons I'm supposed to see on the page, so can't even try deleting the last entry you edited that caused trouble to see if it rids the problem.

To get the error report listed above, I had to click on the coding error icon displayed on my browser (Konqueror). I really don't know how to get the above error report in another browser, but I'm sure it's possible... Regardless, at least you can see the problems I'm talking about! And as for the minor edit, all I did was clicked the "allow comments" radio box for each entry, which I neglected to do at first. Bah!

I'll try contacting Chroot, thanks for pointing me in the correct direction!

    Cheers!

Chroot is aware of the problem. I don't know when he'll have time to look into it...I guess it depends whether it's an obvious and easy fix or something complex. If you can, I'm going to suggest saving your entries offline somewhere while it's being worked on, just so you don't lose them entirely if the fix breaks something before making it better.

For whatever reason it's using the Nexus skin which is broken in blogs.

    Thanks for the investigation!

I have now backed up all the text, so what you (admin) could do--assuming it's possible--is simply reset my account, wiping out the entries, and I could put them back myself with ease. Like I say, assuming something like that is possible...

    Thanks in advance!

Er, Is there any progress on an account reset or something of the like?

    Cheers!
