Need Assurance, guidance

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
    A pendulum with mass m is attached to a block of mass M.
    (closest picture to it, but the mass on top can move horizontally)
    The block is free to move without friction on a horizontal table. There are two degrees of freedom: X and[tex]\theta[/tex]. Find the mode frequencies and mode vectors.

    I just started the problem, I was wondering if I can just place the origin in th CM of the bock and just at the horizontal movement to my T of [tex]\theta[/tex].

    Tx = lcos[tex]\theta[/tex] + X
    Ty= lsin[tex]\theta[/tex]
