# Need Assurance, guidance

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
A pendulum with mass m is attached to a block of mass M.

(closest picture to it, but the mass on top can move horizontally)
The block is free to move without friction on a horizontal table. There are two degrees of freedom: X and$$\theta$$. Find the mode frequencies and mode vectors.

I just started the problem, I was wondering if I can just place the origin in th CM of the bock and just at the horizontal movement to my T of $$\theta$$.

Like:
Tx = lcos$$\theta$$ + X
Ty= lsin$$\theta$$
