In summary, HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and is used to control temperature, air quality, and humidity in buildings. The system works by using heating, cooling, and ventilation components, pulling in fresh air, filtering and conditioning it, and distributing it through ductwork. Common issues include faulty thermostats, clogged filters, refrigerant leaks, and electrical problems. Regular servicing is recommended, at least once a year, to prevent costly repairs and ensure efficient operation. It is best to leave repairs and major troubleshooting to a trained HVAC technician to avoid potential dangers and further damage to the system.

Homework Statement
So I believe I adequately calculated the Reynolds's number (1912~) and I am semi-sure I got the friction loss (hl) * (L/D) * (v^2/2g) = 3.733 ft. I have no idea how to do the 3rd and 4th part of this question.

1. Reynolds number = (Q/A/60) * (diameter) / (3.99 * 10^-5m^2/s) = 1914

.22. The Reynolds number is a measure of the ratio of inertia forces to viscous forces in a fluid system. It is used to determine the flow regime of a fluid, i.e., whether it is laminar or turbulent. A Reynolds number of 1914.2 indicates that the flow is turbulent.

What is an HVAC system?

An HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system is a mechanical system that is responsible for maintaining a comfortable temperature and air quality in a building. It typically includes a furnace or heating unit, an air conditioning unit, and a ventilation system.

How often should I change my HVAC filter?

The frequency of changing your HVAC filter depends on several factors, such as the type of filter, the level of air pollution in your area, and the number of occupants in your home. As a general rule, it is recommended to change your filter every 1-3 months to maintain proper air flow and prevent clogs.

Why is my HVAC system making strange noises?

There are several reasons why your HVAC system may be making strange noises, including loose or damaged parts, clogged air filters, or a malfunctioning fan. It is best to have a professional HVAC technician diagnose and fix the issue to prevent further damage to your system.

What is the ideal temperature to set my thermostat?

The ideal temperature for your thermostat depends on personal preference and the season. In general, a temperature between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit is considered comfortable for most people. However, during the summer months, setting your thermostat a few degrees higher can help save energy and reduce your utility bills.

How can I improve the energy efficiency of my HVAC system?

To improve the energy efficiency of your HVAC system, you can take steps such as regularly changing air filters, sealing any air leaks in your home, using a programmable thermostat, and scheduling regular maintenance with a professional HVAC technician. Additionally, upgrading to a newer, more energy-efficient system can also greatly improve efficiency and save money in the long run.
