MATLAB for Macromolecular Drug Flow Research

In summary, the conversation discusses the difficulty of learning MATLAB for a research project involving solving ODEs related to macromolecular drug flow. It is mentioned that MATLAB has a cross between C, Fortran, and a shell and can be learned quickly if the individual already has knowledge of these languages. Some tutorials are also provided as resources for learning MATLAB. It is noted that if one has never programmed before, it may be more challenging, but with practice and dedication, it is possible to learn. Overall, the conversation concludes that while MATLAB may not be easy to learn, it is not overly difficult either.

How difficult is MATLAB to learn as I am soon to begin a research project that is supposedly going to require MATLAB to solve ODEs related to macromolecular drug flow.

MATLAB does not have a steep learning curve. If you know C syntax, you should be able to learn it fairly quickly. There are a couple of tutorials out there that you can follow to get going.

I found these pretty quickly not too long ago.

Matlab is a cross between C, Fortran, and a shell. If you know any two of the
three its very easy. If not, it will be easy once you solve some simple excercises.

If you have never programmed before, it will be an odessy through the bowels of
Hades.

I have never programmed before so is it really going to be that difficult?

No, not really. But it will not be easy either. Matlab is easy- programming is
difficult.

1. What is MATLAB?
