Newton's Law of Cooling Applications

  1. Jul 25, 2004 #1
As part of my research, i have to find 3 pratical examples that Newtons Law of cooling can be used for. So far i have two, finding the time someone died, and cooling down soup. I have to find a third, which does not involve food, or someone dying. if anyone could suggest a good third practical example of this law it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

By controlling the temperature of the object and the surroundings you could determine the surface area of the object by measuring how long it takes before the object has the same temperature as the surroundings.
