Nuclear Power plant calculation

  1. Dec 20, 2009 #1
If a 1 GW nuclear power plant runs continuously for 18 months, determine the mass of U 235 consumed by the plant, assuming an average fission energy yield of 202 MeV. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, figure out how many fissions take place over that 18 months. How much does that many atoms of 235U weigh? The first question is a simple matter of units (converting eV to watts (or watt-hours...)
