mmmm, fried green tomatoes and fried pickles! I can't get either of those here. :frown:

Fried Twinkies!

When Paula Deen deep fried an entire layer cake, I thought I was going to die.

I had to see for myself what Paula did. It must be this recipe:

Dip 1 of the cake layers in the batter and gently place it in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel lined platter to drain. Repeat with the 2nd cake layer. Let the fried cakes cool slightly and then frost the top of 1 layer. Place the 2nd layer on top of it and frost. Don’t frost the sides, it will be pretty to see the layers of frosting and crispy fried cake.

Deep fried cake? Why not just get hypodermics of straight cholesterol and directly inject?

Deep fried Twinkie and follow it up with chocolate covered lard (bacon if lard is not immediately available)? A dollop of heavy cream? Paula eat your heart out.

You haven't seen the battered and deep fried bacon served with cream gravy?

A white gravy is served on the side.

That sounds like an Al Qeada plot for food terrorism.

Either that or a Pfizer scheme promoting the sales of Lipitor.

County fairs have got to have the unhealthiest food in the world. Deep fried funnel cakes, fried ice cream, fried candy bars... You don't see people lining up at the raw broccoli stand.

But I must confess to being a fan of fried ice cream. They serve it at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants.

I was never even as close to as hot as Tommy on acoustic, but when the weather was bad, etc, I could keep people in the tavern (waiting for other blues-jam denizens) with vocals and some hot licks. Tommy Emmanuel is a monster.
