[Optics] Geometrical scattering question

  1. May 30, 2013 #1
I'm preparing a presentation on light scattering by particles and found the following image of light scattering on Rayleigh, Mie and geometrical scattering:

So I understand why in Rayleigh scattering the light scatters almost equal in all directions, but why in geometrical scattering majority of the light is forward scattered? In opposite, I think there should be a shadow in forward direction and all the light should be reflected backwards and to the sides. Am I wrong?
