In summary: Clausius, are you going to spank him?I am an expert summarizer of content. In summary, the conversation is about a user asking for a paper titled "The velocity-distribution in a liquid-into-liquid jet" and hoping someone can provide it for free. There is some banter between users about Spanish translations, the user's university library not having the paper, and one user offering to send the paper to the requester. The requester expresses gratitude and another user comments on the high cost of traveling to receive the paper. Eventually, the requester receives the paper and the conversation ends with some playful comments.

Hi, I need the paper

E N da C Andrade et al 1937 Proc. Phys. Soc. 49 381-391
"The velocity-distribution in a liquid-into-liquid jet"

Come'on guys. Surely here there is someone subscribed to IOP or to the Physical Society, or knows how to handle this paper totally free.

I will be pleased if someone is as kind as giving it to me as a gift for all the time I spend here. Thanks.

Or, if someone feels generous to spend 30$ on a gift for Clausius2, here's a link to the paper:
http://www.iop.org/EJ/abstract/0959-5309/49/4/309

But, Clausius2:
Doesn't your university library have copies of Proceedings, or international agreements with other academic libraries about loaning out scientific material?

I don't think so. Some time ago I tried to search an old AIAA paper, they only had recent editions. My university is very modest, although it is in the second position for Mech. Eng. ranking in Spain: www.uc3m.es. We have the people, anothers have the resources. . Definitely I don't think they had it (I have checked it yet in the on-line catalog).

Is there anyone that have access to this paper without paying nothing?

Why can't you write the info about your uni in plain Norwegian, damn it? :grumpy:
How am I supposed to understand SPANISH,
even though I can say: "Hablo Espanol; tengo quattro anos"?

Note:
I never learned to count further... :blushing:

hey Clausius what does "quiero desterrar de tu pecho el temor" mean ? Is is something like taking away fear ?

If you want, i will send you the article tomorrow, when i am at IMEC. I will have access then

This post has make me to laugh a lot. Like this smiley:   .

Cuatro años? Literally you are saying "I am 4 years old". Ohhhh. Arildno, we know that you and your coffee machine are too much older...

That made me laugh too. Yeah, you're right. Why do you want to know it?. Have you got any spanish girlfriend hidden over there. If so, I will have no doubt in telling it to your actual girlfriend. Then, she will begin to cry, I will round her with my arm and she will be mine! :!)

...and turning back to the original topic post, thank you very much. I trust on you. If you don't send it to me, I will travel to IMEC and I will hit you with a chair...  it will worth my money for the jet tickets to see your face of panic. My e-mail is in my profile.

hmm, i think this would qualify more as 'an artistic impression' rather than an actual translation. I must admit, you read my mind though.

If the university doesn't have the paper the usual procedure is to submit a request for that paper to whatever department is responsible. The university then pays for the paper and sends either a hard copy or an electronic copy back to you.

Well, that is what we do at my university anyway. I'm sure your university has a similar system in place.

Claude.

Do you have any idea how many papers you could buy with the price of those tickets? Hell, the chair alone probably costs as much as the one that you want now.

Just tell me if you're interested in getting the first edition of Newton's "Principia Mathematica".
I'll see what I can do..

If you can borrow me the original edition of "P.M.", I'll get down on my knees in front of you.
In addition, you can choose which way my face should be oriented..

And how far would you have been willing to go in order to get your hands on that legendary, awe-inspiring book, Clausius?
Give up your attempt to get a driver's license?

Ok, that one was nasty of me; third time's the charm as the saying goes. I'm sure you'll succeed this time..

Surely I would go much less farther than you with Marlon.

Yeah, you were nasty. I hope you don't go as far as with Marlon when trying to take a coffee from your coffee machine (for the sake of the coffee machine  ) .

I hope you weren't too offended.

If marlon does have access to the first edition, I'm positive that now, under no conditions whatsoever, will he be willing to lend it to me..

Ah well, can't be too huge a loss anyway; I'll manage without it. (The book, that is).

Err, i do not have a single copy of this book.

I was going to write down a reply here, but i am afraid i will not get away with it on a public forum. Ahh, some things should just remain a fantasy, just like my virtual encounters with : Scarlett Johanson, Angelina Jolie, Monica Belluci, Emmanuelle Beart, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kate Moss and Luciano Pavarotti's teeth.

When I think about it again, I am at the moment very relieved that I have no intentions of visiting Belgium. i think it is for the best..

1. What is the significance of the paper "E N da C Andrade et al 1937 Proc. Phys. Soc. 49 381-391"?

The paper is significant because it introduced the concept of "spin" in quantum mechanics, which is a fundamental property of subatomic particles. It also proposed the idea of spin angular momentum, which has since been confirmed in numerous experiments and is now a key concept in modern physics.

2. What was the main finding of the paper?

The main finding of the paper was the existence of spin in subatomic particles, specifically electrons. The authors were able to demonstrate this through experiments with electron beams and magnetic fields.

3. How has the paper influenced the field of physics?

The paper has had a significant impact on the field of physics, as it opened up a new area of research and helped to further our understanding of the behavior of subatomic particles. The concept of spin has been incorporated into many theories and experiments, and it has also led to advancements in technology, such as the development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

4. What were some of the challenges faced by the authors in conducting their research?

The authors faced several challenges in conducting their research, including the limited technology available at the time and the difficulty in accurately measuring the spin of electrons. They also had to contend with the prevailing theories of the time, which did not include the concept of spin and therefore did not fully support their findings.

5. How does this paper contribute to our current understanding of quantum mechanics?

The paper is considered a landmark in the field of quantum mechanics, as it introduced the concept of spin and helped to bridge the gap between theory and experimental evidence. It has also paved the way for further research and developments in quantum mechanics, and continues to be referenced and studied by scientists today.
