Homework Help: Peak rectifier with zener diode regulation

  1. Aug 9, 2010 #1
    Hi guys,

I've got a lab on Peak rectifier with zener diode regulation as per this link http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/~kev/intermediate_lab_manual/c4.pdf [Broken]
I am stuck on page 6 with a zener diode circuit. Why has voltage across zener diode got less "ripple" than the voltage across capacitor?
And also on page 7 I am not sure how to calculate the smallest
value of load resistance that can be connected to the output of this zener-regulated power supply without any signicant ripple appearing in output voltage (breakdown voltage of this zener diode is 5.6 V)

    Can you please kindly assist?
