    Fish Are Food, Not Friends!

One of the most memorable and hilarious lines in the movie "Finding Nemo" was a group of sharks, led by Bruce, being in an AAA-type meeting to get rid of their "addiction" to eating fish. The mantra they were repeating was "Fish are friends, not food!", and elicited a roar of laughter from the audience.

In this week's contest, we turn that around just a bit, where we declare that "Fish are food, not friends!" The theme this week is not just on fish, but on Seafood! Your photo must show edible seafood. They can either be dead, or still alive, and they can be uncooked, or cooked.

    Good luck!

    Zz.

    Contest Rules:

    1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a gray area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

    2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 800 x 600 or 600 x 800 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. You are also allowed to adjust the brightness and contrast of your picture but these should not dramatically alter the look of the picture. But other than those, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

    3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack or photobucket. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how.

    4. Only ONE picture per member per contest. Once a picture is posted, it cannot be changed other than a total withdrawl by that member from that week's photo contest. Exceptions will be made for modification to comply with the rules, such as resizing.

    5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

    6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

    7. These pictures must be something that you took, not something taken off someone else's photo albums or taken by someone else. I have no way of checking if you did this, so we'll go by the honor system.

    8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

    9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread. Photos not meant for submission must not be posted in the contest thread. Posting of more than one photos by a member may result in an automatic disqualification from the week's contest.

give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer all day...

I hope that I haven't entered this in the distant past. The result of one of the most productive weekend fishing trips ever. Photobucket shows the size as much smaller than it looks here.

    They are wild moss-trout.

Photobucket displays the file you uploaded.

When I open your image in a separate window it tells me the file is 1000 x 728 pixels.

You can resize it at photobucket. Click on the image and you'll see an edit option. Click on that and once the image is open in the editor you'll see an "adjustment" option. Click on that and one of the many adjustments that are displayed will be "resize". Type in the max dimension, the other will be automatic. Then hit "apply".

At the top left click on "save and replace". The resized version will take the place of the old version without breaking the link.

Glad that worked. I actually had no idea if it would break the link or not, hehe.

Sorry. I must have used "save as" after resizing and failed to edit properly.

That's good. If you wish to delete the first post, feel free.

I arrived home on Saturday to find out that my cousin and her husband had taken off to a family event and left us to supervise their teenage daughters. I cooked up two of those fish for our supper and they disappeared. Those slim, cute daughters were otters. Man! They could pack away brook trout!

    Nice hull turbo!

I don't get to fish often, lately only on trips to Ontario's Algonquin Park.

Only caught one Brookie, they're so picky! notoriously tough to catch, at least for those used to catching sm/lg bass.

    Oh and nice photo!

    Thanks!

There is nothing as fun (outdoor activity, anyway) as catching brookies on dry-flies. I tie all my flies myself and I built that rod, too. Bought the graphite blanks and some parts, and built it to my specs.
