Programs PhD in Geological Science

  1. Sep 29, 2010 #1
I have a BS degree in physics from a US school with no geology background whatsoever. But I want to pursue graduate degree in geological sciences (sedimentology). I have two REU experiences under my belt but none of them were related to geophysics. Can I apply and get admitted to geosciences graduate program ?

It depends entirely on the institution you have your eye on and whether or not they're willing to accept you into the program. FWIW one of my friends got his BS in physics and his PhD in some sort of geology and didn't seem to have too many problems finding a program that would take him. He ended up working for BP. He was pretty busy a few months ago.
