Phonon Spectrum

  1. May 14, 2009 #1
    Hello there, my physics friends.

I was hoping ye could answer a wee question I have on the phonon spectrum. Mainly, what is it? I know one of the mediations is sound but that's about it. If possible could you put it in terms similar to that of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Thanks in advance for all your help, it's much appreciated.

I am not sure what you are asking about.
The phonon spectrum is simply another name for the distribution of phonons in energy/ frequency space.
i.e. it is really no different than when the spectrum analyzer in e.g. Winamp shows the frequency distribution of a piece of music.
