Physics question

  1. Sep 25, 2006 #1
Runner A is initially 6.0 km west of a flagpole and is running with a constant velocity of 9. km/h due east. Runner B is initially 5.0 km east of the flagpole and is running with a constant velocity of 8.0 km/h due west. How far are the runners from the flagpole when their paths cross?

We ask that students show some effort and work on the problems before requesting assistance.

The runners are separated by 11 km. Assuming they start at the same time (obviously they meet at the same time), one covers a distance d and the other covers a distance 11-d, during the same period.

Related time with distance and velocity.
