My favorite "howto" for LaTeX is
http://www.tex.ac.uk/cgi-bin/texfaq2html?introduction=yes
and find the section on "creating posters".

I've never done this myself, but I regularly use that web page for LaTeX questions and I've never got any bad advice from it so far.

I found just the same unclear and incomplete tutorials that I have been finding all these days. I'm just looking for a simple tutorial or a template. For any weird reason this things are difficult to find.

And maybe I didn't find the right article.
