How to Take Print Screen During Windows Installation?

In summary, to take a print screen during a Windows installation, you can use a camera to take pictures or run the installation inside a virtual machine like VMWare or Virtual PC. For Windows users, Virtual PC is a free option and using ALT + PrtScrn will copy only the selected window.

Or run it inside of a virtual machine, like VMWare or Virtual PC. Virtual PC got bought by Microsoft a few years back, and as a result, they've made it free for Windows users to download (I seem to recall they also took out the ability to install non-Microsoft OSs, but that's a different matter):

Pro Tip: In Windows, using ALT + PrtScrn copies only the currently selected window (e.g. the one in which your virtual machine is running), instead of the entire desktop:

1. What is the purpose of using "Print Screen" during an installation?

The "Print Screen" function, also known as "Screenshot", allows you to capture an image of your computer screen. This feature is useful during an installation process as it allows you to document any errors or issues that may occur, making it easier to troubleshoot and resolve them.

2. How do I use "Print Screen" during an installation?

In most cases, you can simply press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard to capture an image of the entire screen. You can also use the "Alt + Print Screen" combination to take a screenshot of the active window only. The captured image will be saved to your clipboard, and you can paste it into a document or image editing software.

Yes, you can edit the captured image before saving it. Once you have pasted the image into a document or image editing software, you can crop, resize, or add annotations to the image before saving it.

4. Is there a way to take a screenshot of a specific area during an installation?

Yes, there are several tools that allow you to take a screenshot of a specific area during an installation. You can use the Windows Snipping Tool or a third-party software such as Greenshot or Lightshot. These tools allow you to select a specific area on your screen and capture it as an image.

5. Can I use "Print Screen" to capture images of error messages during an installation?

Yes, you can use the "Print Screen" function to capture images of error messages during an installation. This can be helpful in troubleshooting and resolving installation issues. However, if the error message disappears quickly, you may need to use a third-party tool that allows you to delay the screenshot capture.
