I am studying undergrad engineering I am looking for a good research area to apply for summer work next year and I was wondering if I apply to my university's mechanical vibrations lab would provide an interesting experience over other areas in mechanical engineering. I am wondering if this area is bustling with research activities or is it a dead end? The lab here seems well sponsored by industry so I figure something might be going on. But I am also interested in other areas like the fluid sciences and manufacturing. I will most likely try but I need to hear from others if vibrations is an area worth looking at if I may be one day a prospective grad student.
