Question about COMSOL and boundary conditions

  1. Dec 21, 2009 #1
Hi - I am using comsol to model some relatively simple microfluidic devices and have been working with a similar example (to get the transport of oxygen at the media/surrounding-material boundary):

In this model they use stiff spring-boundary conditions to accurately model transport across boundaries with comsol: Although I have a fair idea as to why they used it, I am just trying to find more information about using a stiff-spring approx. in this way. I (obviously) googled the idea in various ways and found lots of info on springs, but not why something like this works in a case like this... any info you guys and gals could provide to set me on the right track would be more than appreciated! (Just trying to understand the idea here)

    Thanks
    Mike
