Questions on Mucor and soil nutrients

  1. Jul 2, 2009 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

Q1) Which of the following processes decrease/decreases the amount of nitrogen in an agricultural soil?
(A)leaching (B) nitrification (C) denitrification (D)Absorption by plants (E) removal of the harvest

    2. Relevant equations

    N/A

    3. The attempt at a solution
I think A)leaching,(C) denitrification and (D)Absorption by plants ,would decrease the N content in soil, but I'm not sure whether removing the harvest would have an effect on the nutrient content in soil.
    would it?

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

Q2) Which of the following is/are incorrect about Mucor?
    A) Vegetaive body is a mycelium
    B) hyphae can secrete extracellular enzymes to breakdown the substrate.
    c) some hyphae are modified into rhizoids for absorption of nutrients
D)Aplanospores are produced during asexual reproduction
E)zygospore germinates directly into a new mycelium

    2. Relevant equations

    n/a

    3. The attempt at a solution

I can't find an answer for this.I think all are correct, but I have my doubts on part E),
I know a zygospore germinates directly into a sporangiophore, but isn't a sporangiophore also a part of the mycelium?

    Thank you
