Quick and (hopefully) easy question about derivative of det(g)

  1. Sep 13, 2013 #1
    Given [itex]g=\det(g_{\mu\nu})[/itex], I find that

    [tex]\frac{\partial g}{\partial g^{\mu\nu}}=-gg_{\mu\nu}[/tex]

Can someone confirm if this is correct, please?
