Republican or Democrat? Who Reigns Supreme in the Scientific Community?

In summary, the community seems to be pretty one-sided, so I'm taking a poll. There's no poll feature on the website, so I'm posting my party here. I am a Goldwater Republican, and I voted for George Bush in both the 2004 and 2008 elections. I also voted for Ron Paul in the 2012 election. I have a negative opinion of both George Bush and Barack Obama, but I don't hate either of them.

No poll feature?

How are we supposed to express ourselves with no poll feature? Around here, we even respond to polls about whether or not we ever respond to polls (the choice "I never respond to polls" usually wins).

My depressed response is "Mostly Republican" (depressed by the lack of a poll feature, and at least a slight bit by the fact that Bush is Republican, but not by the fact of being a Republican).

Edit: Maybe the Republican Party should split into the Bush Republicans and anti-Bush Republicans, or maybe the anti-Bush Republicans could call themselves the McCain Republicans.

I do not follow leaders and have never joined a party

I supported Goldwater in 64
and pigasus in 68

hated LBJ for the war
nixon for being a real pig

didnot care about unelected jerry ford

thought carter was the best president of the resent lot

hated ronnie raygun

kinda liked bush1 but wanted pea-row to win just to shake things up

kinda liked clinton at least we had jobs that payed well then

BuSh2 and the far right thumpers are not good for this country
even goldwater saw that coming

Bull Moose party, baby! I'd vote for the Anti-Freemasons if they hadn't folded a hundred years ago.

When you get down to it, in principle neither party represents my views better than the other; at least not to any signficant degree. But lately that issue has been secondary to what I see as a disaster in US politics - the far right anti-constitution nuts that have gained power.

Provincially I'm probably going to vote for the "Work Less" party. Or the Millionaires party. Havn't decided yet.

Federally they all suck. I don't know anything about the Libertarians or the Communists, so unless I decide I like one of them I'll probably vote for Marxist-Leninists or the Marijuana Party.

Of course there's always the possibility I might get involved with the Green party again... I might vote green too. Who knows really, depending on the mood I might even vote for the Sex party... Anything but the tories really.

Damn, you yanks have so little choice...

haha i think politics can be summed up by maddox

"It's almost as if the presidents try to outdo each other by being ****tier every year. You're being duped.

I think the only reason I like Bush... well two reasons. 1) It pisses off liberals, 2) He hasn't taken my guns away yet. How anyone can truly "support" (or maybe ig ot like and support mixed up here) any of these candidates.

I mean let's face it, everyone takes away rights, everyones screwing around... you just support the guy whos taking away the rights you don't care about... but of course you'll say you're trying to secure rights and all that crap.

holy hell my computer just scared the crap outa me... screw you hp software updates.

What was I saying... yah let's face it, everyone sucks... i should be president... then you'd see some serious reigning.

i mean... uhm, representing.

We have a bunch of stupid parties like that... but their party lines are so unkown that no one talks about em.

If I were in the US depending of course on the candidate, I would currently lean towards voting democrat as the republican party has shifted too far towards rightwing conservatism.

If there was still such a thing as liberal republicanism I would support that as I believe in small central government but unfortunately that wing of the party seems to have all but disappeared.

Heh, lucky you don't live in the US then or you'd be pissed off a lot more often.

Yes there is. :frown:

so just post your party.

Currently Republican, will be switching to Libertarian for the next election.

Clinton didn't have money when he started out. I think within the GOP there is a need to be rich to get your party's nomination (due to the "not really one of us" snob factor) but there doesn't seem to be the same requirement for the democrats.

Interesting site. Whilst I would agree with their stance on personal choice in relation to civil rights unfortunately that particular type of economic libertarianism caused the deaths of nearly 2 million people here in Ireland when practiced by the British in the late 19th century.

I register "decline to state", next year however I will vote (D) across the board.

Then I'll get on my knees and pray, we don't get fooled again.

  • #24
I'm registered democrat but would vote republican and easily vote independent under the right cicumstances.

  • #25
I am registered Democart... But see my sig.

  • #26
Well, I'm now in the first state since I've been old enough to vote that actually had check boxes on the voter registration to declare your party. So I'm officially registered as "No Party," which sounds a bit depressing.

Anti-federalist
Conservative
Conservative-Libertarian
Libertarian -Conservative

 Nope, I think Bush deserve to have his own party. Something like Bush-lover party.

Anyway, I don't care about parties because I don't think there's any major difference btw them party is my choice. :tongue2:
