Royally screwed

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

    Monochromatic light with a frequency of 5.50 x 10^14 Hz is directed onto a diffraction grating ruled with 6000 lines/m. What is the distance between the third bright line and the fifth dark line of the interference pattern formed on a screen 2.50m from the grating?

    2. Relevant equations

    wave length = dx/nL

    Answer: 0.0123m

    3. The attempt at a solution

    wave length = 5.454545454545455e-7
    d = 1/6000 = 1.666666667e-4
    x = ?
    n = ?
    L = 2.50m

    I have an exam on this tomorrow and I can't even do simple questions like these. If somone can explain how i would solve this it would be great.
